Private Ronald James Bass served with 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry. He was subsequently attached to HQ 1st Airborne Division, Defence Platoon and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.
He died on 21 September 1944, aged 24 years old. He was given a field burial in the grounds of the Hartenstein Hotel. On 15 August 1945 he was reinterned at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
