Private Hill enlisted into the Royal Armoured Corps and volunteered for The Parachute Regiment in 1944. He attended parachute training course number 108 at RAF Ringway between 20 and 29 March 1944. His instructor noted: ‘very good pupil, attained a high standard.’
Private Hill was demobilised in May 1946.
