Evan John Bevan was the son of Evan John and Beatrice Bevan and husband of Olive Jean Bevan, of Kingsbury, Middlesex. He enlisted into 1 Battalion, The Welsh Guards, before volunteering for airborne forces in 1947.
He successfully completed his parachute training on 15 July 1947. It was noted that Bevan was a "good performer...well disciplined."
Guardsman Bevan was initially posted to Talavera Barracks in Aldershot before being posted to 1 Battalion, The Parachute Regiment and he served in Palestine.
He died on 19 September 1947 and is now buried in Khayat Beach War Cemetery, Israel.
