Private Francis Joseph Eckle served with the 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Ox and Bucks and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.
Pte Eckle died on 6 June, aged 31 years old. He is now buried at Bayeux War Cemetery, Normandy.
