421 Platoon 1975

This colour photo has only two members of the original 421 platoon that formed up in September 1975. Bruce McKinnon and Paul ‘Willy’ Williams. In the centre of the picture in the middle row is William ‘Geordie’ Snowden. He joined the platoon from the Junior Para Pegasus Gymnastic team in the late autumn of 1975. He was a real driving force in the platoon. He was killed in Crossmaglen South Armagh a couple of months after this picture was taken. He was serving with A Coy 3 Para and killed on the 28th June 1976 by the IRA with an I.E.D.
