On the 50th anniversary of the battle of Arnhem a reunion was organised for the Pegasus escapers by Nienke and Hiltje van Eck and Wolf Horstman, a resistance leader in Ede who helped to transport the Pegasus escapers to the river.
35 Pegasus escapers and their relatives attended a Civic Reception at the House of Province at Arnhem on Saturday 17 September 1994. The reception was attended by 300 members of the Dutch families, who sheltered them, and the Dutch Resistance, who transported and guided them to the river.
Prince Charles is pictured here thanking Nienke and Hiltje for organising the event. The van Eck family sheltered Tony Hibbert, on the right of the picture, after the battle.
