Description
Taken by Lieutenant Powell Davies during Exercise Eve on 20 June 1943. During this exercise, 72 WACO gliders and C47 tugs took off from Matemore and Thiersville aerodromes in Algeria, landing at Froha aerodrome.
Men from 1st (Airborne) Battalion the Border Regt, 9 Field Company RE, 181 Airlanding Field Ambulance RAMC and the 1st AB Divisional Provost Company were involved in the exercise.
The description states "opening up the nose of a glider to bring out heavy equipment. It will be seen that the tail is lifted, this is done to bring the nose of the craft within easy reach and to facilitate unloading".
