2nd Parachute Battalion.
WAR DIARY. 5th – 15th January 1942.

Place: HARDWICK.
5th January 1942.
The first Bn Gymnasium has been fitted up technically with twin operations and an operating room. A cinema show is to be given every night.
6th January 1942.
Capt. C.N. Wheelock assumed command and payment of ‘R’ Coy.
7th January 1942.
‘A’ Coy did a descent from the balloon which is now working in Hardwick Park.
8th January 1942.
The 2nd Bn assumed duties of the Bde Duty Bn. Yellow Lanyards were issued to all Ranks to be worn on
Month and Year: January 1942.

8th January 1942 – continued:
the left shoulder at all times. The Bn colour is GOLD.
9th January 1942.
Capt. G.H. Wheelock took over duties of P.M.C. from Capt. J.J. Rann, and Major J.D. Frost took over duties of P.R.D. from Capt V.G. Reid.
10th & 11th January 1942.

12th January 1942.
‘C’ Coy returned from Ringway on completing their advanced jumps.
13th January 1942.
‘R’ and ‘A’ Coy proceeded to Ringway.
14th & 15th January 1942.
