PART OF LANDING ZONE ‘Z’. SUNDAY, 17 SEPTEMBER 1944.
The landing positions of some of the Hamilcar gliders on the First Lift, some of which have been identified;
C/N: 314, carried a gun & crew from ‘P’ Troop, 1st Airlanding Anti-Tanks Battery, RA
C/N: 317, carried a gun (P-2) & crew from ‘P’ Troop, 1st Airlanding Anti-Tanks Battery, RA
C/N: 318, carried a gun (D-2) & crew from ‘D’ Troop, 1st Airlanding Anti-Tanks Battery, RA
C/N: 319, carried a gun (D-4) & crew from ‘D’ Troop, 1st Airlanding Anti-Tanks Battery, RA
C/N: 321, carried a gun (D-3) & crew from ‘D’ Troop, 1st Airlanding Anti-Tanks Battery, RA
C/N: 323, carried 2 x Bren Carriers, 2nd Parachute Battalion.
