Richard, son of John recalls this about this image:
"The airfield was RAF Keevil, surprisingly close to Marlbrough. We duly arrived to find it overgrown and the security gate was chained and padlocked. Well that seemed a good idea at the time and we started to turn around. A car arrived and stopped at the gate and the driver unlocked the gate and came across and asked if he could help. I explained the circumstances and he informed us that as it was Saturday the Bannerman Gliding Club, based at RAF Lyneham used the airfield for recreational gliding. He asked if we would like to follow and were invited to join them. The outcome was very memorable. Both my father and I were taken up in gliders with the promise that they would return him to the airfield this time!"
