Handwritten copies of correspondence sent to Pte Riddell’s mother regarding his death, 1945.

Pte Riddell’s sister Dorothy was a war bride who emigrated to Canada in August 1944.

Handwritten copies of letters, which were sent to the family in the UK regarding her brother's death, were forwarded to her. They were copied by Lucy, another of Pte Riddell's sisters.

The original letters were sent to the family by George Hewetson, Commanding Officer of 8th (Midlands) Parachute Battalion; Captain Ronald C Thompson, Adjutant of 8th (Midlands) Parachute Battalion on Operation Varsity; and the Reverend SEA Rowe of 190 Field Regiment RA.
