The Old Church in Oosterbeek dates back to the 10th Century and is the oldest church in use in Gelderland.
Repairs made after World War II gave experts more specific information about the history of the church in the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944, when the building played a crucial role and was one of the last strongholds of the airborne troops prior to the withdrawal across the Rhine.
Since then, and especially during the annual commemoration, the church has become a site of pilgrimage for the veterans and their families.
