Brookwood is 30 miles from London, in Surrey. Brookwood Military Cemetery is the largest Commonwealth war cemetery in the UK.
The cemetery was begin in 1917 and extended in the Second World War. It contains 3476 Commonwealth burials from the Second World War, as well as Canadian, French, Polish, Czechoslovakian, Belgian and Italian sections.
Brookwood Memorial Cemetery also commemorates 3500 Commonwealth men and women of the Second World War who have no known grave. Names of those who died in campaigns or raids that are not commemorated on other memorials are recorded on the Brookwood Memorial. The Memorial was designed by Ralph Hobday and unveiled by Queen Elizabeth II on 25 October 1958.
