Major John C Bune was the son of Frank Cuthbert and Gladys Bune, and husband of Hilda Dorothy Bune, of North Ryde, New South Wales, Australia. He served with HQ Coy, 1st Parachute Battalion and took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden. Records suggest he was successfully parachute jump trained at RAF Ringway on Course 111. Which ran between 9 and 18 April 1944.
Major Bune died on 17 September 1944, aged 30 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
