Jeff Chandler joined the Army in 1960, training as a REME armourer, and volunteered for Airborne Forces straight after trade training.
After a very short spell with 16 Para Wksps REME he was posted to 2 PARA who were then in Kuwait. He was attached to the Battalion until after it returned from Borneo, where he took part in the defence of Plaman Mapu. He was then posted to 9 Ind Para Sqn RE until 1970.
After a short spell in BAOR and an Artificer Weapons course he returned to 2 PARA 1971-74. His last parachuting came with a posting as AQMS Weapons to Bradbury Lines 1976-79.
He was demobbed in 1991 as a WO1.
