Frank Crawford, son of Frank and Eleanor Crawford; husband of Morva Crawford, of Letcombe Regis, Berkshire, was granted a commission into The Parachute Regiment.
Lieutenant Crawford successfully completed his parachute training at RAF Ringway, on course number 51 from 15 to 27 February 1943. His course report stated "Has set a very good example, an excellent performer and leader". He was posted to Support Company, 11th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
Lt Crawford was killed in action on 22 September 1944, aged 32, and was given a field burial near the Van Hofwegen laundry, Ploegseweg, and was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 23 October 1945.
