Sergeant Christopher C Barwick

Sergeant Christopher Cyril Barwick served with the 2nd Airborne Battalion, Ox and Bucks Light Infantry and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944. He was transported in Glider No.4 A Horsa glider towed by a Halifax tug piloted by Flying Officer Clapperton on the attack on Pegasus Bridge.

Sgt Barwick died on 7 June 1944 in the Battalion advance into Escoville, aged 24 years old. According to the war diary on 7 June during this action 10 men died, 43 were wounded and 27 men listed as missing. 

He is now buried at Herouvillette New Cemetery, in Normandy.
