Acting Captain Anthony Rogers

Tony Rogers served with airborne forces from 25 November 1982 until his discharge at his own request due to being unable to continue parachuting on 20 March 1984 whilst in the Territorial Army as part of C Company, 15th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (15 PARA SV). His Father, Ken Rogers had also previously served with this unit. He completed his Basic Parachutist Qualification in September 1983.

Tony took some time out from the TA until 30 July 1986 when he re-enlisted into 105 AD regiment, 218 Bty Royal Artillery TA, However his continuing medical problems with his joints and reliance on strong pain killing medication made it necessary to again request a discharge on the 1 April 1989.

Whilst serving with the Royal Artillery he attempted to enlist as a Regular soldier, however, it was not possible to take this any further due to these ongoing medical problems. This disappointment did not put him off with his desire to continue wearing the Queens uniform which led him to apply to join the Army Cadet Force as an Instructor in 1991 and was delighted to be accepted. On the 13 February 2001 he was commissioned on a List B TA commission. He retired and relinquished his commission on 10 August 2008.

Tony is also the recipient of The Cadet Forces Medal.
