Alan George Rhodes was the son of Arthur and Ethel Rhodes, of Brighton, Sussex. He enlisted in the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars, Royal Armoured Corps, and volunteered for Airborne forces.
Trooper Rhodes successfully completed glider training and was posted to 6th Airborne Armoured Regiment, Reconnaissance Corps, and took part in Operation Varsity (Rhine Crossing).
Tpr Rhodes was killed in action on 24 March 1945, aged 21, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
