John Edward Clark was granted an emergency commission, on the General List, 24th April 1943.
He was taken on strength with the 1st Airborne Division Provost Company on the 1st May 1943.
Lieutenant Clark was posted to D.P.M, No 1 I.R.T.D, B.N.A.F. on 19th October 1943.
On the 26th October 1944 it was announced in the London Gazette that P/191995. Lieutenant. John Edward Clark, serving with the 4th British Divisional Provost Company had been awarded the Military Cross for his actions in Italy. The MC citation can be viewed on the right.
It was noted in the London Gazette on 30th January 1951 that Lt Clark had his rank formalised so it was no longer an emergency commission.
Having attained the age limit, in June 1965, Lt Clark relinquished his commission and was granted the honorary rank of Captain.
NOTE: It is possible that this man was serving with the 1st Airborne Div Provost Coy in 1942 as 405477. Serjeant. J.E. Clark, and did parachute course No 20 at R.A.F. Ringway, 27th July to 3rd August 1942.
