Ivan Brocket enlisted into the Army in September 1944, aged 17 years, and transferred to the airborne forces in 1945.
He qualified as a military parachutist on course B172 which ran at RAF Ringway from 16 to 31 July 1945 and initially posted to the Army Air Corps Holding Battalion.
He was posted to the 6th Parachute Battalion in September 1945 and served with them in Palestine until its amalgamation with the 4th Battalion.
